Reinforcement Ring

If your tank is not filled close to its maximum capacity, or if the tensioned cover is not removed before a storm, there is a real risk of structural damage. The reinforcement ring stabilises the top of the tank, preventing shaking and liner movement caused by wind. In most cases where damage has occurred, a reinforcement ring could have prevented it entirely.

Strong winds can cause the top ring of a partially filled tank to shake, and the liner to ripple, which may lead to damage. We recommend keeping your tanks as full as possible, while always leaving a freeboard (a gap between the water surface and the top edge) to prevent overflowing. Even so, a reinforcement ring is highly recommended to maintain the tank’s shape and integrity.

Our geotextile anti-algae covers allow some rainwater to pass through, but during extreme weather, puddles can form on the cover. This can happen with both flat tensioned covers and elevated covers supported by a centre pole. Even with support, some sagging is unavoidable, and the weight of pooled water can pull the top ring inwards, putting the tank at risk. In these situations, the reinforcement ring is vital to protect your tank.

Although it is advisable to remove covers before storms, we know it’s not always practical to monitor your tanks constantly. That’s why a reinforcement ring is a must-have for added peace of mind and long-term protection of your investment.
